Here comes an innovative RFID based bicycle rental automation system from QI Systems which would enable the public to check out and return rental bikes from unattended bike racks.
The system called Cyclestation will be implemented in the Tulsa area of Oklahoma. It’s quite a simple system where every bicycle is tagged and secured to the RFID reader equipped rack.
For checking out the bikes one needs to scan his or her card for identification and authentication. The person is rented the bike for a period of time and in case the bike is not returned within the prescribed time card owner is charged a fee.
The system is able to detect each bike based on whether its RFID tag is within the reader range.
