Marine Fendering Using Lightweight Composites
Significant Weight Reduction, Cost Savings and Improved Impact Resistance
There are various marine fender systems, but none that are using our lightweight composite material/configuration for government/military applications.
Our system provides significant weight reduction, cost savings and improved impact resistance.
Originally, the long-standing solution to minimize/prevent damage between marine vessels and the pier was rope and a recycled tire over the side.
Our customer requested a steel and urethane/rubber product; and taktik(z) proposed a winning solution.
Basically we applied current automotive energy management solutions to a military problem. Also, we have successfully field tested our solution under rigorous operational conditions.
This same lightweight composite material created by this process may have applications in other industries (furniture, transportation, aerospace, medical) where weight and green (recycling, sustainability, environmental, ISO14001, etc.) is a concern.
