Delays in Contract Awards from the Coast Guard and the U.S. Navy
Marinette Marine’s chief executive officer says it will lay off more workers next month.
The shipbuilding division of Manitowoc Co. laid off about 90 union workers last month because of delays in contract awards from the Coast Guard and the U.S. Navy.
CEO Richard McCreary said Friday that more layoffs were expected after the company lost a $1.5 billion bid to build 34 U.S. Coast Guard patrol boats over about seven years.
The Coast Guard says the bid went to Bollinger Shipyards in Lockport, LA.
