$550M Plant Expected to Ultimately Produce 200,000 Vehicles Annually

The first Honda Civic has been driven off the assembly line of Honda's new assembly plant in Greensburg, IN.

The black, four-door sedan came off the assembly line at 7:50 a.m. Thursday as Honda officials looked on.

Nearly 900 people now work at the plant along Interstate 74, about 50 miles southeast of Indianapolis.

Honda spokesman Andrew Stoner says the company is currently operating one shift at the factory and plans to add a second shift next year.

The $550 million plant is expected to ultimately produce 200,000 vehicles annually, and have about 2,000 workers at full capacity.
